Quinnipiac University

Quinnipiac University, based in Hamden,offers an Online RN to MSN in Operational Leadership. This program prepares students to manage operations and coordinate the delivery of patient care. The BSN component of the program may be completed in one year, and the MSN component may be completed in one additional year. This program's coursework is entirely online. There are additional practicum and fieldwork requirements.

Students who already possess a BSN may pursue the stand-alone Online MSN in Operational Leadership. This 30 credit program prepares nurses who are seeking leadership positions in care coordination, clinical education, or informatics in diverse health care settings.

Sacred Heart University

Sacred Heart University, based in Fairfield, offers four online MSN degrees. The Online MSN Nursing -- Family Nurse Practitioner coursework is completed entirely online, but the program requires an on-site orientation and two on-site evaluations. Students are advised that they may have to travel significant distances for clinical placements.

The Online MSN Clinical Nurse Leader program requires 39 credit hours and prepares nurses for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) Certification Exam. The Online MSN Nursing Management and Executive Leadership is a 36 credit hour program that includes a requirement for 120 clinical practicum hours with a preceptor. The Online MSN Nursing Education is a 39 hour credit program with 180 required clinical hours. Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for the Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) exam.

University of Hartford

The University of Hartford offers an Online Master of Science in Nursing with concentrations in public health nursing, nursing education, and nursing management. This 34 credit degree program is completed entirely online and may be completed on a part-time basis within 24 months. The program is specifically structured to allow nurses to pursue their MSN while working full-time.
