After completing an undergraduate nursing program that is officially approved by the Arizona Board of Nursing, Arizona nurses can obtain RN licensure. Of the state-approved undergraduate schools, two schools offer Master's degrees in Nursing.
Arizona Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure laws require that Nurse Practitioner programs also be accredited on a national level.
Six MSN programs in Arizona are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and none are accredited by The Accreditation Commission For Education in Nursing (ACEN).
Though several CCNE-accredited MSN programs exist in Arizona, only one of these is state-approved. An RN or LPN license granted by the Board of Nursing in Arizona is relatively versatile in terms of relocation.
Arizona is one of 32 states currently enrolled in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), an agreement that allows nurses in NLC states to practice in other NLC states without obtaining additional licensure in those states (note that APRN licenses from Arizona are not included in this agreement).
